Gotsis: Priority is the Repatriation of Cypriots from M. East

The repatriation of Cypriot citizens from the Middle East, as soon as possible, is a priority for the Republic of Cyprus, stated the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Gotsis. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Kombos, is holding telephone contacts with partners in view of the rapid developments in the region. Mr. Kombos had telephone conversations with the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Giorgos Gerapetritis, with the main message being the need for de-escalation, diplomacy and dialogue. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an extraordinary Council of Foreign Affairs of the EU, where the developments and the needs of the citizens of the member states were discussed. As soon as the airspace opens, Cyprus will prioritize the repatriation of its citizens. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a circular and calls on Cypriot citizens who register on the Connect2CY platform to complete all their details in detail, including their contact telephone number and location.
