Cyprus Prioritizes Repatriation of Citizens from Middle East, EU Coordinates Efforts

The Republic of Cyprus is prioritizing the repatriation of Cypriot citizens from the Middle East as soon as conditions allow. Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Gotsis, stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Kombos, is in contact with international partners, including the EU High Representative, Josep Borrell, and Foreign Ministers of Italy and Greece, to coordinate efforts. The main message being promoted is the need for de-escalation and dialogue. An emergency Council of Foreign Affairs of the EU has been held, where the citizens of the member states and coordination measures were discussed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on Cypriot citizens in the region to register on the Connect2CY platform and provide detailed contact information.
