Η πρέσβης των ΗΠΑ στην Ελλάδα, Κίμπερλι Γκίλφοϊλ, υπογράμμισε ότι η απεξάρτηση της Ευρώπης από τη ρωσική ενέργεια αποτελεί σαφή προτεραιότητα του Προέδρου των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών. Όπως ανέφερε σε ανάρτησή της, η υιοθέτηση από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση της νομοθεσίας RePowerEU, με στόχο τον πλήρη τερματισμό των εισαγωγών ρωσικού φυσικού αερίου έως το φθινόπωρο του 2027, συνιστά καθοριστικό βήμα προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση.
Παράλληλα, τόνισε ότι οι ΗΠΑ είναι έτοιμες να ενισχύσουν τον εφοδιασμό των ευρωπαϊκών χωρών με αξιόπιστο φυσικό αέριο, μέσα από έργα όπως ο «Κάθετος Διάδρομος» (Vertical Corridor), ο οποίος αξιοποιεί αμερικανικές και ελληνικές ενεργειακές υποδομές. Σύμφωνα με την ίδια, τέτοιες πρωτοβουλίες ενισχύουν την ενεργειακή ασφάλεια, συμβάλλουν στην οικονομική ανάπτυξη και στηρίζουν το ενεργειακό μέλλον της Ευρώπης.
