George Vassiliou, Visionary Cypriot Leader, Dies at 94

Former President of the Republic of Cyprus, George Vassiliou, passed away at the age of 94, following hospitalization for a respiratory infection. Vassiliou served as President from 1988 to 1993, with a primary focus on finding a solution to the Cyprus issue and integrating Cyprus into the European Union. He was a visionary politician, a Europhile, and a proponent of dialogue. During his term, he sought to promote economic development, strengthen defense, and improve healthcare.
