UK Defence Secretary Updates MPs on Actions at Akrotiri Bases – 230 Flight Hours and War Equipment

British Defence Secretary John Healey updated the British Parliament on the actions taken by the United Kingdom to strengthen its military forces in the Middle East, particularly in Cyprus. The reinforcement includes the deployment of additional Typhoon fighter jets, Wildcat and Merlin helicopters, as well as the deployment of the HMS Dragon destroyer. The British Air Force has carried out more than 230 hours of flight, while the bases in Cyprus have been reinforced with 400 personnel, mainly air defence. The wreckage of a drone that hit the British base at Akrotiri is being analysed to determine its origin. The United Kingdom is also continuing operations to protect and evacuate citizens from the region, having evacuated more than 37,000 British nationals.
