AG: Highlights the Need for Training in Digital Justice Tools

The Attorney General, George L. Savvides, highlighted the need for training in digital justice tools during the event “European Judicial Training: Creating a Supportive Environment for Digital Justice@2030”. He emphasized that digitization has entered the field of justice and that understanding and using digital processes are policy priorities at national and European level. Mr. Savvides stated that digital education for justice professionals concerns both digital literacy and understanding the substantive law applicable to the digital economy and society. The Legal Service of the Republic has observed an increase in cases related to digital activities, highlighting the need for further training of personnel. He pointed out that the use of digital tools, such as video conferencing for witness testimony, can improve the quality and speed of justice. At the same time, he referred to the multifaceted legislative framework of the European Union that regulates various aspects of digital life, such as the Digital Markets and Digital Services Acts, the Data Act and the Regulation on Terrorist Content Online. Specifically, he referred to Regulation 2023/2844 (Data Act), which has led to a significant reform in communication between the competent authorities in the field of justice.
