German Real Estate Agent Case: 20 Additional Witnesses Added

In the case of the German real estate agent accused of advertising and exploiting properties in the occupied territories, the Nicosia Criminal Court decided to add 20 more witnesses to the Prosecution's list, bringing the total to 44. The decision was made despite objections from the defense, which argued that adding witnesses at this stage of the trial could affect the proceedings. Presiding Judge Nikolas Georgiades dismissed the objection, emphasizing that the Prosecution has the right to use evidence that emerged after the referral, provided the defense is notified in a timely manner. He pointed out that the trial is still in its early stages, with the time so far being spent resolving issues of admissibility of evidence and other preliminary objections. Mr. Georgiades stressed that the continuation of the investigation is not limited to securing evidence against the defendant, but may also relate to evidence that could exonerate her. He also mentioned that the material received from the German authorities had been delivered to the defense before the hearing began. The case has attracted significant interest, and the decision to add the additional witnesses is expected to affect the duration and outcome of the trial. The defense reserves the right to raise further objections and challenge the legality of the process.
