Germany Sends Troops to Greenland to Assess Security

Germany is deploying 13 soldiers to Greenland at the invitation of Denmark, with the aim of investigating the security conditions in the region. The soldiers departed from Wunstorf Air Base, heading to Nuuk with stops in Berlin and Karup, Denmark. According to the Ministry of Defence, the mission aims to potentially contribute German military support to Denmark in guaranteeing the security of Greenland, possibly through maritime surveillance. Both the German Chancellor and the Minister of Defence have emphasized Germany's desire to safeguard the Arctic region from the Russian threat, but within the framework of the NATO alliance and in cooperation with the United States. Moscow has already expressed its concern over the deployment of additional NATO forces to Greenland.
