Donations for Limassol Fire Victims Reach €1.74 Million

The total amount of donations for the fire victims of Limassol has reached €1,741,849, with contributions from 1,469 individuals and legal entities. The largest contribution, €200,000, comes from a single donation. The General Accounting Office of the Republic has published detailed information on the donations and their allocation, assuring transparency and accountability in supporting the affected individuals. The donations were categorized into three groups: over €50,000 (7 cases, total amount €775,000), between €10,000 and €50,000 (27 cases, total amount €611,500) and under €10,000 (1,435 cases, total amount €355,349). The majority of the small donations come from citizens. The Government has divided the allocation of donations into two main pillars: the restoration and protection of the affected areas. It has already approved the use of €850,000 for the purchase of 17 fire trucks, which will be donated to the Community Councils of the fire-affected communities in the province of Limassol. The remaining amount, €891,849, will be distributed to the fire-affected communities based on criteria, giving them the opportunity to implement projects of their choice. The entire process ensures transparency and accountability in the use of funds to support the victims and restore the areas.
