PEO General Secretary: Equality Requires Peace and Respect for Human Life

The General Secretary of PEO, Sotiroula Charalambous, in her speech for International Women's Day, emphasized the importance of continuing the struggle for equality and the recognition of women's rights. She stressed that equality requires peace and respect for human life, condemning military interventions. Ms. Charalambous referred to the economic and social situation of women in Cyprus, highlighting low income and invisible care work. She presented PEO's key demands for improving the living conditions of women, such as increasing the minimum wage, strengthening collective agreements, and creating social care infrastructure. She also emphasized the contribution of AKEL to the struggle for equality.
