Vafeadis: “Christodoulides Operates with Transparency and Respect for Institutions”

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, expressed his confidence that the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, operates with integrity, transparency and respect for institutions, responding to questions regarding the controversial video. Mr. Vafeadis emphasized that every issue raised in public dialogue is treated with seriousness. However, he pointed out that the claims made in the video are not accompanied by documented evidence or financial data to prove illegal activity. He noted that informing citizens is the government's responsibility, but it cannot replace the investigation by the Attorney General and the Police. Mr. Vafeadis stated that the international credibility of Cyprus is ensured when institutions function smoothly and transparently. He stressed that evaluating the video requires checking its origin, authenticity and the full text it is part of, as fragmented presentation can lead to false impressions. Finally, the Minister mentioned that corporate social responsibility actions are examined within the legal framework and cannot be equated with political funding or exchanges without specific evidence. He reiterated his trust in the integrity and transparency of President Christodoulides.
