Cypriot Taxi Drivers Stage 24-Hour Strike

Taxi drivers in Cyprus have staged a 24-hour strike, starting at 6:00 a.m., protesting issues of legality within the industry. Drivers at Larnaca Airport gathered in the parking lot, and the strike has a nationwide scope. The President of the Larnaca Provincial Committee of the Pan-Cypriot Confederation of Urban Taxi Drivers (POAT) stated that all avenues for dialogue have been exhausted and that today's strike marks the beginning of a series of mobilizations. The drivers are demanding the restoration of legality and state they will not back down.
