First Sessions Held for Teacher Evaluation System, Says Education Minister

The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, announced that the first sessions of the Monitoring Committee for the new teacher evaluation system have begun. Educational organizations have already submitted their proposals, which are being studied by the Ministry, while training sessions for educational officials on the new legislation, passed by Parliament in December 2025, have also started. The Minister stated that the preliminary evaluation criteria had been set as early as May 2025 and are now being finalized in collaboration with the three educational organizations, with the aim of being submitted to Parliament by the end of February. The training sessions have begun and aim to inform teachers and officials about the new legislation and roles. The Minister emphasized that the training sessions are prioritized in the mornings, at the request of the educational organizations, in order to avoid disrupting school operations. It is noted that other, more specialized training sessions will follow, in order to ensure the full preparation of teachers for the implementation of the new evaluation system.
