Oil Prices Rise After Trump's Ultimatum to Iran

Oil prices rose early Monday after a 48-hour ultimatum issued by US President Donald Trump to Iran, demanding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, threatening the destruction of its energy infrastructure. At the same time, Israel warned that the war could last for several more weeks. American West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for May delivery rose above $100 a barrel, while North Sea Brent reached $113.44 a barrel, before a slight decline. This rise is significant, given that on February 27, before the US-Israeli attacks, prices were much lower ($67.02 and $72.48 per barrel respectively).
