Foot-and-Mouth Disease: 11 Livestock Units Suspended in Pergamus

Following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the free areas of Cyprus, the Veterinary Services have decided to suspend the operation of eleven livestock units in Pergamus. This decision was made to prevent the movement of milk from units operating illegally in the Dead Zone and British Bases to dairies in the free areas. The suspension affects eight cattle farms and three sheep farms, which previously supplied three dairies. The suspension will remain in effect until the inspections are completed and the investigation report is issued, with the aim of verifying the compliance of the units with Cypriot legislation and identifying any unregistered units.
