New Cypriot Judge Elected to the European Court of Human Rights – Number of Votes Secured

Nicolas Emiliou has been elected as the new Cypriot Judge to the European Court of Human Rights, securing 121 votes. In the same process, Natasha Mavronikola received 26 votes and Margarita Papantoniou received 5 votes. Emiliou currently serves as Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union since October 2021. His election marks Cyprus's presence in one of the most important courts for the protection of human rights in Europe.
