Strict measures are being taken in Geri and Dali following the detection of foot-and-mouth disease cases in two livestock units. The Latsia – Geri and South Nicosia – Idalia Municipalities have been mobilized to limit the spread of the disease. In Dali there are 31 cattle units and 22 goat and sheep units, while in total in the area there are about 100 units and 100,000 animals. In Geri there are 52 goat and sheep units, 1 pig farm and 17 cattle farms. The Municipalities have implemented measures such as the creation of wheel disinfection tanks and automated spraying systems, while the livestock farmers have taken over the disinfection of their vehicles.
