No New Cases of Bluetongue Detected / Cabinet to Decide on Livestock Support Measures

Laboratory tests on samples taken by Veterinary Services officials have shown no new cases of bluetongue. However, the number of cases remains stable at 38 livestock units. The Council of Ministers will discuss the issue at its meeting on Monday and decide on measures to support livestock farming. Sotiria Grigoriadou, Senior Veterinary Officer, stated that the stability of cases is positive, but could be reversed if there are obstacles to the culling of affected animals. President Christodoulides described the situation as difficult and stressed the need for bold decisions.
