Security, Cyprus and 'Blue Homeland': Ankara's Geopolitical Puzzle

Turkish officials and analysts are outlining the current Turkish strategic thinking, which focuses on defense, arms programs, energy strategy and the geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean. Particular emphasis is placed on the need to strengthen naval air defense, the relationship with the pseudo-state, and support for Iran. Concerns are expressed about gaps in Turkish naval defense, with reference to the delay in the construction of the TF-2000 anti-missile ship. The presence of foreign warships around Cyprus is highlighted, and the need for rapid deployment of effective firepower is emphasized. At the same time, the development of a navigation monitoring system in the Eastern Mediterranean is being promoted, through the construction of monitoring stations in the occupied territories. The project, implemented by HAVELSAN, will allow real-time monitoring of shipping activity. Turkey's energy strategy, linked to the 'Blue Homeland' strategy, emphasizes the development of exploration and energy production capabilities in the region.
