The Deputy Ministry of Tourism has announced the launch of direct flights from Larnaca to Kazakhstan, starting in June 2026. The flights will be operated by Air Astana to the cities of Astana and Almaty, twice a week from each city. This development is considered historic, as it connects Cyprus directly with the Central Asian country for the first time. Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, described the opening of new markets as an action of paramount importance for the government. He expressed confidence that the new connection will be beneficial for Cyprus's tourism and other sectors of the economy. Kazakhstan is the largest economy in Central Asia and is considered a promising market for Cypriot tourism. The Deputy Ministry of Tourism has scheduled its participation in the tourism exhibition in Almaty in April, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The new air connection is expected to contribute to the increase of tourism from Kazakhstan to Cyprus, offering easier and faster access for travelers. Cyprus aspires to offer excellent hospitality to Kazakh visitors and develop closer relations in the field of tourism.
