New Lyceum Pathway to Focus on Vocational Skills

The Cyprus Ministry of Education has announced a new pathway in Lyceum (high school), designated 5β, titled “Applied Learning in Commerce and Services”. Its aim is to prepare students who wish to enter the labor market directly after graduation, for professions for which there are no specific study programs. The new pathway will offer experiential learning and skills required by the labor market, while also contributing to the reduction of early school leaving. The program is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and has a budget of €189,400. It will be piloted in four Lyceums from September 2026. It includes new courses such as Office Organization and Management, Computer Applications, Marketing, Health Education, Green Transition, and Design and Technology. The pathway is aimed at students who do not intend to continue with academic studies, students seeking an outlet in the labor market, and students with a migrant background.
