Justice Minister Announces Increased Police Presence in Larnaca Following Criminal Incident

The Minister of Justice, Kostas Fytiris, met in Larnaca with Mayor Andreas Vyras and the leadership of the local Police Department following a recent criminal incident. The Minister emphasized the need for cooperation between the state, municipalities, and civil society to address the rise in organized crime, announcing an increase in police presence and continuous patrols in critical areas. Mayor Vyras stressed the importance of accountability from all relevant authorities and requested a specific action plan, expressing citizens' frustration with unfulfilled promises. He pledged the municipality's support through information and joint campaigns, but clarified that combating organized crime is not the responsibility of local government. Finally, the Police Director of Larnaca stated that police officers volunteered to work overtime to support the Police's work.
