Navalny Death: Investigation Reveals Poisoning with Frog Toxin

Published February 14, 2026, 14:17

A joint investigation by the governments of the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands, with the participation of France, has revealed that Alexei Navalny was poisoned with a potent neurotoxin derived from the poison dart frog of Ecuador. The toxin, known as epibatidine, is 200 times stronger than morphine and is classified as a chemical weapon. These governments accuse the Vladimir Putin government of the poisoning, arguing that only it had the means, motive, and opportunity to use this toxin. Navalny's wife, Yulia, expressed her grief and emphasized that the scientific evidence confirms her suspicions. Investigators report that the toxin causes asphyxiation and will inform the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. The Kremlin has not yet responded to the allegations, having previously denied any involvement, attributing Navalny's death to a combination of illnesses.
