Disappointing Figures - The Situation in the 5 Largest Dams

The overall fullness of the dams in Cyprus on Friday, February 13th, was only 14.1%, compared to 26.0% on the same date last year. The total amount of water in the dams was 41,080 million cubic meters (MCM), much lower than the 75,613 MCM of last year. The inflow of water into the dams since October 1st, 2023 is 19,223 MCM. The largest dams, Kouris and Asprokremmos, have a fullness of 12.6% and 12.9% respectively. This situation raises concerns about water adequacy during the summer. Water conservation and finding new sources are critical to addressing the drought.
