Striking Workers at Committee on Missing Persons Due to Unpaid Salaries

Workers at the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) have announced strike action due to a 43-day delay in salary payments. The union of public employees (KTAMS) blames the Ministry of Finance for the delay, alleging it does not recognize the signature of the "presidency". According to the announcement, employees at the CMP, which falls under the "presidency", have not received their salaries for over a month. The union attributes the responsibility to the Ministry of Finance, which refuses to accept the signature of the Turkish Cypriot leader. As a result, workers who are members of KTAMS will hold a full-day strike on Monday, February 16th. A protest is also scheduled outside the Ministry of Finance building on the same day at 09:30. This situation highlights the tensions between the two communities in Cyprus and the difficulties faced by workers at the CMP, which aims to locate and identify missing persons from the 1974 war.
