British Destroyer 'Dragon' Departs for Cyprus

The British destroyer 'Dragon' has departed from Portsmouth heading to Cyprus to contribute to the defense of British bases on the island. The ship is considered one of the most advanced in Europe in terms of anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense. It is equipped with the Sea Viper system, SAMPSON radar, and a 114mm gun, as well as the ability to carry a Wildcat helicopter. Its main mission is to protect against aerial threats, such as fighter aircraft, drones, and ballistic missiles. The 'Dragon' has been deployed repeatedly in the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and the Persian Gulf, participating in NATO operations and maritime security missions. Its deployment to Cyprus comes at a time of increased geopolitical tension. The journey to Cyprus is expected to take about a week.
