US Official: Iran to Present Proposals for Nuclear Program Within Two Weeks

An Iranian official stated that Iran will submit detailed proposals within two weeks to bridge the gap in talks with the United States regarding its nuclear program. The official, who chose to remain anonymous, reported that progress has been made in the Geneva negotiations, but many details remain to be discussed. The talks focus on efforts to restore Iran's nuclear program, which had been limited under the 2015 agreement (JCPOA), from which the US withdrew in 2018. Restoring the agreement would require Iran to again limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. The official emphasized that the Iranians have expressed their willingness to submit specific proposals to overcome the differences in the positions of the two sides. However, there was no indication of the content of these proposals or whether they will be sufficient to lead to an agreement. This development comes after a series of talks between the US and Iran, mediated by Oman, aimed at bringing the nuclear program negotiations back to a constructive level. The success of the negotiations will have significant geopolitical consequences for the region and for international efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
