Turkish Cypriot Leaders Criticize Cyprus President's Statements

The "prime minister" of the pseudo-state, Unal Ustel, and the "foreign minister," Tahsin Ertugruloglu, criticized statements made by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, regarding the Greek Revolution of 1821 and the status of the British Bases. Ustel argued that the "Greek Cypriot mentality" has remained unchanged since 1821, while rejecting the condition of Turkey's recognition of the Republic of Cyprus for discussions regarding the Bases. Ertugruloglu described statements targeting the presence of the Turkish army on the island as "empty products of fantasy," reiterating the position of "two sovereign and equal states." Meanwhile, the President of the National Defense Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Hulusi Akar, held contacts in the occupied territories, repeating that the presence of Turkish armed forces in Cyprus is non-negotiable and constitutes a guarantee for Turkish Cypriots. He promoted the two-state solution, stating that the possibility of a federal solution has been exhausted.
