Competitive Energy Market Hampered by Inaccurate Pricing

Published January 24, 2026, 20:11

Private companies in the competitive energy market are facing difficulties in accurately pricing their customers due to delays in the installation of smart meters by the Distribution System Operator. The lack of accurate metering data creates uncertainty about costs and may lead to financial losses for suppliers, who may be forced to absorb the costs or pass them on to consumers. This results in the inability to offer competitive packages to households and degrades the competitiveness of the market. SEPEE, the association of private energy companies, will soon meet with relevant authorities, including the Minister of Energy, to discuss the problems and propose solutions.
