President Christodoulides Engages in Open Dialogue with Students in Larnaca

President Christodoulides held an open dialogue with students in Larnaca, answering questions regarding the Cyprus issue, developments in the Middle East, Cyprus's accession to the European Union and its role, unemployment, and developments in Larnaca. He emphasized the importance of Cyprus's accession to the EU as a diplomatic success and stated that the EU can help in resolving the Cyprus issue. President Christodoulides mentioned that EU membership influences the content of the Cyprus solution and that Turkey seeks to get closer to the EU through the resolution of the Cyprus problem. He highlighted the importance of cooperation with the EU and the United Nations to achieve a mutually acceptable solution. Regarding talks with other countries, the President stated that the Cyprus issue was the main topic of discussion and that he was seeking pressure on Turkey to resolve the problem. He emphasized that Cyprus can offer solutions to other problems as well, due to its geographical location and the need for stability in the region. The event was organized by the Pan-Cypriot Lyceum of Larnaca with the title “Cyprus at the Helm of Europe: Young People Participate – Democracy Leads,” and aimed to strengthen the participation of young people in European issues and promote democracy.
