Αιχμές για τη στάση της ΕΕ
Μέσω κατεχόμενων θα πρέπει να γίνει η ηλεκτρική διασύνδεση της Κύπρου με το ευρωπαϊκό δίκτυο, υποστηρίζει ο Τουφάν Έρχιουρμαν. Ο κατοχικός ηγέτης τοποθετήθηκε για το ζήτημα μέσω ανάρτησής του στα ΜΚΔ.
Όπως αναφέρει, «πολλές μελέτες έχουν δείξει ότι το έργο (GSI) δεν είναι οικονομικά εφικτό. Υπήρξε, και συνεχίζει να υπάρχει, μεγάλη συζήτηση σχετικά με το εάν θα υλοποιηθεί. Παρά ταύτα, η ΕΕ υποστηρίζει το έργο».
Προσθέτει πως εδώ και τρία χρόνια το ψευδοκράτος προσπαθεί να μεταφέρει διεθνώς το μήνυμα ότι η πιο συμφέρουσα επιλογή είναι η διασύνδεση να γίνει μέσω κατεχομένων και Τουρκίας.
«Καθώς η ΕΕ συνεχίζει να λέει ότι θέλει μια λύση στην Κύπρο, πρέπει να αποφασίσει εάν θα υποστηρίξει ένα έργο που θα συμβάλει σε μια λύση μέσω αμοιβαίας αλληλεξάρτησης ή ένα που θα περιπλέξει περαιτέρω τα πράγματα», καταλήγει στην ανάρτηση του.
Ercihurman's Post on GSI – “Project is Unsustainable”
Tufan Ercihurman, leader of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), argues that the electrical interconnection of Cyprus with the European network should be done through occupied territories. He points out that many studies have shown that the GSI project (the interconnection via Israel) is not economically viable, despite the support of the European Union (EU). Ercihurman states that the TRNC has been trying for three years to convince the international community that the most advantageous option is the interconnection through the occupied territories and Turkey. He believes that the EU should decide whether it wants to support a project that will contribute to a solution through mutual interdependence or one that will further complicate the situation in Cyprus. Ercihurman's position comes at a time of intense debate about how to implement the electrical interconnection of Cyprus with the European network, with different proposals and concerns about geopolitical implications.
