CT Analysis: Turkish Mixer with Corruption, Bribery Scandal, Cyprus Issue and… Two States

Turkish media are linking the video scandal involving conversations between associates of the President of the Republic with alleged investors, to the Cyprus issue and the prospect of two states. They are heavily promoting the video and information about bribery, portraying the Christodoulides government as corrupt. They draw parallels between the case and previous allegations of corruption in Cyprus, such as the golden passports scandal and the Eva Kaili case, to strengthen their narrative. The aim is to present the President as an unreliable interlocutor, as happened with Nikos Anastasiades after the publication of an Al Jazeera investigation. Turkish media argue that the alleged corruption in Cyprus is an obstacle to resolving the Cyprus issue and accepting the two-state solution.
