Advocate General Rantos Rejects Meta's Appeals

Advocate General Athanasios Rantos of the Court of Justice of the European Union proposed today the rejection of appeals by Meta Platforms Ireland against decisions of the European Commission concerning the delivery of internal documents. The investigations relate to the possible abuse of a dominant position by Meta in the Facebook and Facebook Marketplace services. Rantos argued that the General Court did not make a legal error in assessing the necessity of the requested information. Final decisions are expected in the coming months, but usually follow the recommendations of the Advocate Generals. The case highlights the EU's strict stance towards large technology companies and the effort to ensure competition in the digital market.
