Heathrow Airport Ends 100ml Liquid Rule for Hand Luggage, Changes for Laptops Too

Heathrow Airport has announced the completion of the installation of new, state-of-the-art CT scanners, allowing passengers to carry liquids in containers up to two liters in their hand luggage, without the need for plastic bags. Additionally, laptops can also remain in bags during security checks. Heathrow is now the largest airport in the world with fully upgraded equipment, although it is not the first in the UK, as Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Birmingham airports had already increased the limit to two liters. However, some airports that have installed the new scanners are still awaiting approval from the Department for Transport to implement the new guidelines, while research suggests that the sensitivity of the scanners may lead to more manual checks.
