“Missing” €500,000 from American Investor Mentioned in Videogate

The Auditor General responded to a request from AKEL MP Christos Christofides regarding monetary donations to the state over the past three years. The request is linked to a report of a €500,000 donation from an American citizen mentioned in a leaked video, known as “videogate”. Auditor General Andreas Antoniades stated that there is no recorded donation of €500,000 from an American investor. At the same time, he provided detailed information on the donations recorded over the past three years, including a donation of almost €16,000 from the Cyprus Children’s Aid Committee for 2025. Regarding donations in kind, Mr. Antoniades clarified that the relevant files are kept at the Ministry of Finance and not at the Auditor General’s Office. However, he informed that the data has been requested by the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions and will be submitted as soon as the collection is completed. This response comes as an answer to questions arising from the publication of the video, in which the former Director of the President’s Office allegedly refers to the aforementioned donation.
