Eggs and Protest at Farmers' Rally in the Occupied Territories

Farmers in the occupied territories held a protest at the self-proclaimed “Ministry of Agriculture,” expressing strong dissatisfaction with the problems facing the sector. During the protest, they threw eggs at the building and forcibly entered the premises, leaving milk and manure at the entrance. The protesters demanded the resignation of the self-proclaimed “government,” accusing it of destroying livestock farming. They stated that the price of barley has increased significantly, while the price of lambs has decreased, creating an unsustainable situation for producers. The president of the farmers' association criticized the “responsible parties” for delaying payments and accused the self-proclaimed “Minister of Agriculture” of being the main enemy of the sector. He argued that the “government” is working to destroy domestic production. The protests are expected to continue, with farmers demanding the protection of domestic production and addressing the rising cost of inputs. They also addressed the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman, asking him not to support a “government” that destroys livestock farming.
