Raid on Establishments in Ayia Napa: Counterfeit Products and Illegal Cigarettes and Tobacco Seized

A joint operation by Customs and Police in Ayia Napa resulted in the seizure of a large number of illegal products. The operation targeted the fight against the illegal trafficking of tobacco products, nicotine pouch packages, and counterfeit clothing and accessories. During checks at two establishments, illegal cigarettes, tobacco for roll-your-own cigarettes and hookahs, tobacco pouches and nicotine pouches, as well as products infringing intellectual property rights were seized. In the first establishment, 39 packs of cigarettes, 250 grams of tobacco for roll-your-own cigarettes, 1 kg and 50 grams of tobacco for hookahs, 59 packages of tobacco pouches, 53 packages of chewing tobacco, and 69 packages of nicotine pouches were seized. The owner of the first establishment was arrested for immediate offenses but was released after an out-of-court settlement request was accepted with the payment of €1,000 for the tobacco products. The nicotine pouch packages were handed over to the Police for further investigation. In the second establishment, 160 pieces of clothing and accessories infringing intellectual property rights and 444 packages of nicotine pouches were seized. The owner of the second establishment also achieved an out-of-court settlement with the payment of €350 and the abandonment of the counterfeit products for destruction. The nicotine pouch packages were handed over to the Police for further investigation. This operation is part of the authorities' efforts to combat the illegal trafficking of products and protect consumers.
