Erhurman: No Progress on MOEs, Proposes Frequent Meetings with Christodoulides

Following a trilateral meeting, Tufan Erhurman stated that there has been no progress regarding the constituent elements (MOEs). He reiterated the need to accept the principles of political equality and rotating presidency, describing President Christodoulides' new 5-point proposal as a restatement of existing positions. Erhurman proposed new meetings between the two leaders without the involvement of the United Nations, which he stated was accepted. He emphasized that political equality requires the acceptance of a rotating presidency without restrictions on terms, as denying Turkish Cypriots the possibility of the presidency would undermine equality. He also mentioned that the proposed timeline should have a specific limit, not be indefinite. Erhurman highlighted the willingness of the Turkish Cypriot community to find a solution.
