Erhiyurman: Peace Cannot Be Achieved Through Coercion

Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhiyurman, stated that a solution to the Cyprus issue cannot be achieved through threats or violence, nor through military agreements. He emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people desire a solution that guarantees their equality, sovereignty, and security. Mr. Erhiyurman referred to reports in the Greek Cypriot press regarding new lawsuits for “property rights” and responded that the Turkish Cypriot people also have the ability to file lawsuits and undertake international initiatives. He stressed that peace is a process that must begin before a solution and continue after it, based on two referendums and signatures.
