Greek FM: Expanded Cyprus Talks When Conditions Mature

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, where they discussed the Cyprus issue, Syria, the Palestinian issue, and Libya. Regarding Cyprus, Mr. Gerapetritis stated that a new meeting in an expanded format will take place when conditions mature and progress is made on confidence-building measures. He emphasized the importance of resolving the Cyprus issue for international legality and security. Concerning Syria, he stressed the need for an inclusive policy for all communities, while regarding Libya, he referred to discussions on a political solution. Mr. Gerapetritis expressed concern about the crises in the Middle East, Ukraine, and Sub-Saharan Africa, calling for a global alliance under the umbrella of the UN.
