China Calls for De-escalation as Iran Strikes Bahrain Oil Facility

China's special envoy for the Middle East has called for de-escalation among the parties involved in the current armed conflict during a meeting with the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister. China expressed its deep concern over the situation in the region and called for an immediate cessation of military operations, as well as avoiding further escalation of tensions. It also condemned attacks against civilians and non-military targets. China stressed the need to respect the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Gulf countries and promoted a return to negotiations. Simultaneously, it was announced that an Iranian strike caused a fire at an oil facility in Bahrain, with the national oil company Babco invoking 'force majeure'.
