Scammed Out of €2,000 for Fake Mobile Phones

Police are investigating a fraud case following a complaint filed by a 30-year-old man. The man claims he paid €2,000 to two unknown individuals for four mobile phones, which later turned out to be counterfeit. According to the complaint, the 30-year-old was approached by the two unknown persons in an open space in Paralimni on January 23, 2026. After the delivery of the phones, the complainant discovered that they were not genuine. Police arrested a 47-year-old man, suspected of involvement in the case, based on an arrest warrant. The suspect is expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court tomorrow for the issuance of a detention order. The Famagusta TAE continues its investigations to ascertain all the details of the case and identify any accomplices.
