Meat Feast – Double Consumption on Tsiknopempti – Tuesday Most Profitable Day for Butchers

Tsiknopempti saw double the meat consumption compared to a normal Thursday, with grill pieces being the most popular. This consumption ranks Tsiknopempti as the third most profitable day for butchers, after Christmas and Easter. Cypriots are among the largest meat consumers worldwide and the price of meat in Cyprus is reasonable. After Tsiknopempti, pieces such as the shoulder and ribs will remain in the butcher shops, which will be sold in the next few days until Clean Monday. The price of pork ranges from €5.5 to €6/kg and lamb from €14 to €15/kg.
