Two More Foot-and-Mouth Disease Units Detected in Larnaca, Animal Culling Reaches 21,000

Two additional units, one with sheep and goats in Dromolaxia and one with cattle in Meneou, have been found to be infected with foot-and-mouth disease, bringing the total number of infected units to 44 in the province of Larnaca. Veterinary Services continue investigations, sampling, and vaccinations, which have reached 89% of cattle and 65% of sheep and goats island-wide. Unfortunately, animal culling in Livadia has reached approximately 21,000. Authorities continue to monitor for illegal animal movements and have identified four violations.
